“I know this is a big step, but I promise to have your back every step of the way.” — Wendy Newman

Meet Wendy

Hi, I’m Wendy!

I’ve been making real estate predictions and learning the markets since I was twelve. I’m a house nerd.

And my fascination with the industry is stronger than ever.

Wendy's History

In January 2000, I transitioned from managing a large-scale residential housing facility for disenfranchised women in San Francisco to founding my first business, Stay Sonoma LLC.

Stay Sonoma was a marketing and reservations company representing 300+ residential estates. I partnered with property owners to help them stage, market, set policies, and price their vacation rentals. Stay Sonoma was sold in 2012.

In 2002, I did a deep dive into understanding partnership dynamics. By April 2006, I created Wendy Newman Inc. to help women build strong partnerships and create a life they love by design. I’ve led hundreds of workshops and helped shape the lives of over 90,000 people internationally.

Committed to communication and to people being included, heard, and understood, I majored in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Studies at Vista College in Berkeley (1990-1996).

I’m a natural leadercompelled to be helpful to people.

As a REALTOR®, I incorporate my compassionate nature, fierce advocacy, and my bend to partnership to help my clients move through their real estate experience with peace, certainty, and ease.

On a personal side,

I’m a writer. Writing makes me happy. I’ll write almost anything – Fiction, non-fiction, articles, advice columns, screenplays, thoughtful emails, I write. My first book, 121 First Dates (Simon and Schuster), was optioned for film, and it got plenty of love from The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Self, Access Hollywood, and hundreds of other media outlets.

You make the final call on price, with my guidance.
I take the lead on everything the public sees.

Homes don’t sell by accident. They sell because pricing is strategic and presentation is exceptional.

One of the biggest things that sets me apart is how seriously I take my role in that presentation.

I treat marketing as a responsibility, not an add-on. That means high-end staging, Zillow Showcase, professional photography, drone, video, thoughtful creative direction — even custom property songs when it fits. I invest in these because they are part of the job.

I take real accountability for how a property shows up in the world. Every listing should feel intentional, elevated, and distinct — not simply “on the market,” but launched with purpose.

This is a partnership. You deserve an agent who carries her weight.

I don’t just list homes — I art direct them.

And I’ve intentionally built my business within a small, collaborative brokerage so I can prioritize my clients over corporate overhead. Instead of feeding a machine, I reinvest in the marketing that directly benefits your sale.

Before real estate, I spent decades as a relationship expert and workshop leader, guiding people through breakups, transitions, grief, conflict, and major life pivots.

That experience isn’t separate from my real estate work — it’s one of my greatest strengths.

I specialize in divorce and emotionally complex situations because I’m unusually calm, grounded, and fluent in difficult conversations. I know how to sit in tension without escalating it. I know how to translate between people who are scared, angry, avoidant, or overwhelmed. And I don’t disappear when things get hard.

Many agents sell houses.
Few are trained to navigate what’s happening underneath the sale.

In a divorce, the property is rarely just a property. It represents identity, history, security, and the next chapter.

I help people move through that transition with clarity and steadiness.

The house may be the asset —
but the real work is guiding you through the shift.

REMOVE my contact information that looks kinda plopped there.

3. Divorce Is a Specialty

Before real estate, I was a relationship expert and workshop leader. I spent decades helping people navigate breakups, transitions, grief, conflict, and major life pivots.

That background is a huge part of my edge.

I specialize in divorce and complex emotional situations because I’m unusually calm, grounded, and emotionally fluent. I know how to sit in uncomfortable conversations. I know how to translate between people who are scared, angry, avoidant, or overwhelmed. I don’t escalate. I don’t judge. I don’t disappear when things get hard.

A lot of agents sell houses.

Most don’t want to work with divorcing people.

I help people through identity shifts.

The house is just the container.
